Covid-19 Updates:

May 21st, 2020

The Grand Tradition is closely following the recent developments around the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Outbreak. Our heartfelt thoughts are with all of those directly impacted by this pandemic.

These changes are happening rapidly, and we are trying to get up to date information out to all our guests when it is available to us. Here is what we know:

The State of California has issued a “stay in place” order for all Californians except for essential functions, issued on March 19th, 2020set until further notice. The Governor of the State of California has enacted a four-stage framework for reopening California framework here. These stages provide provisions for the reopening of lower-risk businesses and spaces in stage two, then higher-risk businesses and spaces in stage three; with a full reopening of all businesses in stage four.

The state has allowed for San Diego County to move further into the Stage 2 reopening. This allows restaurants and retail businesses to have in-person customers with modifications to their operation. Other businesses that can be open with modifications are office-based businesses, car washes, pet grooming, landscape gardening, outdoor museums and open gallery spaces with modifications.

The County of San Diego released an updated executive order effective May 10th, 2020 stating it is prohibiting all public or private gatherings/events that bring together 1 (one) or more person into a single room or space at the same time; as well as enact social distancing. The County order is in effect until further notice.

Our Veranda Restaurant is scheduled to reopen on June 5th, 2020. We are currently working on our reopening plan to ensure the safety of our customers and employees in accordance with San Diego County’s guidelines. Please check back next week as we will post what to expect when dining at our restaurant. Our new hours during this time, will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 2pm serving Brunch and Lunch. Due to our reduced dining capacity, parties larger than six (6) people cannot be accommodated at this time. Reservations will be required, click here to make your reservation.

Our events-based business is scheduled in the phase three category. Any scheduled special events have been in contact with their Event Coordinator to devise a plan tailored to their wishes and needs during this time of uncertainty. We will continue to keep you updated with any additional information when it becomes available to us.

Our gardens will be open to visit starting June 5th for Friday, Saturday and Sunday’s only. Face masks will be required for all garden visitors and visitors should adhere to the social distancing guidelines. Please check in with our Concierge upon arrival. We look forward to everyone enjoying a walk through the gardens.

Our Event and Sales team continue to work remotely to ensure their safety and to handle all concerns from each client. The safety of our clients, their families and our employees are of the utmost importance to us.
